The Passenger Seat

.

The Cortina was outfitted with early 3-Series BMW Recaros by the previous owner sometime in the early 1990's, which worked well for many years. During the stint at John Pagel's Evil Genius shop, the driver's seat was swapped for my Recaro SRD (which did time in my '65 Mustang, and the '65 Alfa Giulia TI.) With the rollcage, the BMW seat put the passenger's head precariously close to a roll bar, but I ran it until...

This thing showed up. A friend (who used to own a V8 Cortina) pulled this from his own V8 powered Austin Healey (I'm sensing a theme here), and the price (free) was right. It sat on a table in my garage for a few months until I got tired of it taking up space.

Above is the bracket for the BMW Recaro fashioned by the previous owner.

I happened to have a set of Recaro sliders hanging around, which were too wide, so I narrowed them.

Welded in a couple of rods to keep the front and rear mounting points in the same place, So I could narrow the platform for the sliders.

Here's the completed bracket mated to the narrowed slider

And mounted.
